Made with fresh or frozen cranberries, sweet apples, orange juice, and warm cinnamon and cardamom, this flavorful cranberry sauce strikes the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and warmly spiced. Ready in minutes with minimal effort, it's a delicious addition to Thanksgiving dinner, holiday desserts, or your favorite sweet and savory dishes!
Ingredients
Instructions
- Add the cranberries, diced apple, and orange juice to the Instant Pot. Sprinkle the sugar over the top without stirring, then add the cinnamon bark, cardamom pods, and optional candied ginger.
- Secure the Instant Pot lid, set the valve to the sealing position, and cook on High Pressure for 2 minutes. Once the cooking cycle finishes, allow the pressure to release naturally for 5–10 minutes before carefully releasing any remaining pressure.
- Remove the cardamom pods and cinnamon bark before stirring. For a smoother sauce, mash the cranberries and apples until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the sauce and add more sugar if needed, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your preferred sweetness.
- Serve warm or allow it to cool, and enjoy!
Notes
This homemade cranberry sauce is delicious served warm or chilled alongside your favorite holiday dishes! Spoon it over roasted meats, spread it onto leftover holiday sandwiches, or use it as a sweet and tangy topping for yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, or desserts. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months for best quality. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools!
