Ingredients
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to the inner pot of your Instant Pot.
- Close the lid and make sure the valve is set to the sealing position.
- Cook on Manual/High Pressure for 60 minutes.
- Once the timer finishes, allow the pressure to release naturally. If you're in a rush, you can release the pressure immediately, but the beans will have a little more bite to them.
- Strain the beans to remove any excess water, and they're done!
- If you prefer more of a "refried bean" style, simply use an immersion blender. After cooking, strain the beans, reserving the cooking liquid in a separate bowl. As you blend, gradually add the reserved liquid back in until you reach your desired consistency. Keep in mind that you can always add more water!
- Enjoy delicious homemade beans that are so much better than anything you can get in a can!
Notes
The natural release time is an estimate and could take longer depending on your Instant Pot model and the quantity of beans.
Serving note: Three cups of dried pinto or black beans typically yield approximately 7–9 cups of cooked beans. For your recipe card, 12 servings of approximately ¾ cup each is a reasonable estimate, although the final yield will vary.
